Is Your Mindset Stopping You From Achieving Your Goals? Here Are 2 Steps To Help You Change That

Let's talk about habits.

One of the things people often ask me is:

"How long do I have to do exercise for to lose weight ?"

The truth is UNTIL you succeed. And success can mean different things to different people. It might be a number on a scale, it might be a feeling of energy and vitality, it might be a feeling of self love, acceptance and understanding.

But what it does mean is that you need to have the right MINDSET, which enables you to persist until you are successful, whatever your goal is.

We have all been through challenges.

We have all had roadblocks that have kept us from achieving our health and fitness goals.

Here are some of the more common barriers I hear:
  • Lack of time
  • Friends and family don't share similar interest in physical activity
  • Lack of motivation and/or energy
  • Lack of resources/equipment
  • Family care-giving obligations/responsibilities

No doubt, you have heard people tell you how to set goals for yourself.

And you may have even set those goals.

But achieving them? Well it's much easier said than done isn't it?

What I have learned is that one of the biggest (if not the biggest) thing that holds us back from living the life we want is our limiting mindset.

We tell ourselves “stories” that have often been created many years ago.

Stories such as...

“This is pointless and nothing will come out of it. I am overweight and will stay that way regardless of anything I do”

“It’s just my fate to be like that.”

“If I manage somehow to shed off a couple of pounds I always end up gaining more. It’s foolish to even try.”

“Carbohydrates make me fat.”

Sometimes these stories are not even true but year upon year, they get stronger.

And it's very, very hard to change something that's been the base for your thinking for such a long time.

So how do you overcome these barriers to create new habits that serve you?

Well to be honest, you're going to have to work at it. Constantly.

But the good news is, it can be an enjoyable process. You can teach your mind how to change, and it can be done with ease and flow when you know how.

Step 1:  Awareness

First you need to recognise that you "have" a story that is influencing your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

For example, you have tried to lose weight in the past but you're not able to keep it off and now you have a belief (or story) in your mind that you are not able to do it.

Unless you remove this limiting belief you will continue to be unsuccessful. You will end up doing the same things because your internal "story" is "running the show".

So, step 1 is to ask yourself the question, "What am I telling myself on a daily basis about my weight?"

Sometimes, establishing this awareness and overcoming the limitations can be hard to do by yourself. But I can help you.

Step 2:  Belief

Believe you can rewrite the script to your story. You are born as a natural creator. It's time to get creative and design the script of the life you want to live. Creating the correct internal programming that your brain can run off. A new version of you needs rewiring to create new outcomes. Anything is possible if you believe it to be so.

“The only limits you have are the limits you believe.” Wayne Dyer

I've been through this process (and will continue to go through it) and I know that changing your limiting beliefs will absolutely change your results - and your life.

We manifest what we believe because what we believe influences what we attract.

To discover what we believe, we need to question our thoughts and our decisions.

Sometimes, asking the right questions can be hard to do by yourself. But I can help you.

The first obvious question is:

Are you ready to overcome the limitations holding you back and find the right solutions for YOU to create the habits you need for the outcomes you desire?

And if the answer is yes, then let's get started with a personalised approach to your health!
